here is our journey
We are a third generation
American owned family business.
Our roots are in machining and manufacturing. We started there in the 1960s and grew into engineering, machine design, plastics, products development, and distribution. We’ve done work for and service a vast number of industries and have a deep knowledge of production, maintenance and repair, hydraulics and pneumatics service and distribution, and product development.
Lewis Products (the umbrella company for Rotary Thread®), invented and markets the world’s only rotary thread® file. The tool was invented out of necessity. A job came into our machine shop. All the methods of thread restoring were going to take far too long, too aggravating, and were too costly on downtime for our customers. So with an idea and a few prototypes later, a new tool category had formed. Rotary Thread® Files.
In seconds we had restored the threads on the job. It seemed too good to be true, so we kept fixing customers’ threads using our tools instead of methods we’d used for years. We knew we were on to something. Our patented Rotary Thread® Files were not only invented out of necessity, they are used in our shops daily out of necessity. Nothing else compares.
Why was the tool developed?
We developed the tool to assist in our day to day operations on thread repair at the machine shop, as well as at our hydraulic repair facility. It worked so good we figured there had to be more people who can benefit from this tool.
We have every type of thread repair tool you can think of in our shops, none of them were 100% effective nor versatile and easy to use. Thread files were cumbersome and very labor intensive, thread dies have their purpose but you have to carry several sizes and on routine thread cleanup why bother, then there are the tool bit plows.
These tools plow through the damaged metal with high speed steel cutting teeth, pushing threads and jamming, they require correct alignment on the thread in order to prevent cross threading, plus none of these tools can fix an internal thread.
From simple garage DIY projects to industrial grunt work – here’s what our customer’s say about our products.
